Manaslu Circuit Trek

The Manaslu Circuit Trek is a classic trekking adventure that takes you around the world’s 8th highest peak, Mt. Manaslu (8,163 meters). This trek offers two routes to complete the journey, starting from the historic Gorkha district, which is about a 5-6 hour drive from the capital, Kathmandu.

The trail follows the Budi Gandaki River valley, leading you through wild, unexplored terrain that is primarily inhabited by the Gurung ethnic group. Along the trek, you will pass through remote villages, lush forests, and beautiful landscapes.

The trek takes you around the towering Manaslu peak, crossing the challenging Larkya Pass at 5,100 meters. From there, the route descends into the Marshyangdi River valley, which is part of the main Annapurna Circuit trail. As you continue your trek, you’ll enjoy walking through forests of rhododendron and oak, with stunning views of the surrounding peaks.

The trek concludes at Besi Sahar, where you will drive back to Kathmandu, completing this unforgettable trekking adventure around one of the most majestic mountains in the world.

Itinerary

Day 01 :
Arrival in Kathmandu, Transfer to Hotel

Arrive in Kathmandu, the bustling capital of Nepal. After landing, you will be transferred to your hotel where you can relax and get acclimatized to the new environment. This day serves as a rest day to recover from your journey and prepare for the exciting days of trekking in Nepal ahead. You can also take some time to explore the local area.

Day 02 :
Sightseeing in Kathmandu and Prepare for Trek

Kathmandu is home to several UNESCO World Heritage Sites, and today you will embark on a guided sightseeing tour. Visit historic temples like Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple)Pashupatinath TempleBoudhanath Stupa, and Durbar Square to get a taste of Nepal’s rich culture and heritage. In the afternoon, meet with your trekking guide and finalize your preparations, including trekking permits and gear, before setting off for your trekking in Nepal adventure.

Day 03 :
Drive to Arughat Bazaar

The trekking journey begins with a scenic drive to Arughat Bazaar, located in the Gorkha district. The drive takes approximately 5-6 hours and offers a glimpse of Nepal’s rural life and landscape. Arughat Bazaar is the starting point for the Manaslu Circuit Trek and marks the beginning of your trekking adventure. You’ll stay overnight here and get ready for the trek ahead.

Day 04 :
Trek to Sundi Khola

From Arughat, the trek begins as you make your way to Sundi Khola. The trail winds through lush forests and traditional villages, providing a peaceful introduction to the landscapes of Nepal. You’ll cross suspension bridges and pass through subtropical terrain, providing the perfect start to your trekking in Nepal.

Day 05 :
Trek to Machha Khola

On this day, the trail leads you further up the valley towards Machha Khola, a small riverside village. The journey takes you through more remote areas, and you’ll be surrounded by stunning landscapes and towering peaks. The trail along the river offers views of small waterfalls, terraced fields, and picturesque villages.

Day 06 :
Trek to Jagat

The trek continues as you move towards Jagat, a small village along the route. This day marks the first significant climb of the trek, as the path gets steeper. The trek takes you through lush forests, crossing rivers and streams, and offers more spectacular views of the surrounding mountains. Jagat will be your stop for the night.

Day 07 :
Trek to Deng

From Jagat, the trail takes you to Deng, a small village located at the foot of the Manaslu range. The trek continues to ascend as you pass through remote, traditional villages and cross the Budi Gandaki River multiple times. The landscape becomes more rugged and the surroundings more serene, perfect for immersing yourself in nature while trekking in Nepal.

Day 08 :
Trek to Ghap

The trek continues towards Ghap, where you will pass through dense forests and isolated villages. As you ascend, you’ll notice the landscape shifting, with more alpine trees and panoramic views of the surrounding peaks. Ghap provides a quiet, peaceful environment to rest after the day’s trek.

Day 09 :
Trek to Lho Village

On this day, you’ll reach Lho, a beautiful village located at a higher altitude. The views of Manaslu Peak and surrounding mountains become more prominent as you gain elevation. The trek to Lho offers stunning views of the peaks and an opportunity to experience the local Tibetan-influenced culture.

Day 10 :
Trek to Sama Gaon

The trek leads you to Sama Gaon, a village situated near Manaslu Base Camp. This day marks your arrival in a high-altitude village where you will experience a more Tibetan-influenced culture and enjoy incredible views of Manaslu and surrounding peaks. Sama Gaon is also a good place to rest and acclimatize.

Day 11 :
Local Sightseeing and Rest Day

Take a well-deserved rest day to acclimatize to the altitude and explore the local area. You can visit Manaslu Base Camp or simply relax in the village, enjoying the magnificent views and exploring the surrounding hills.

Day 12 :
Trek to Larkya Lodge (Dharmashala)

On this day, the trek takes you to Larkya Lodge (also known as Dharmashala), a popular resting point before crossing the Larkya Pass. The route becomes more challenging as you approach higher altitudes, and you’ll need to take it slow and steady. The lodge offers stunning views of Himalchuli and Manaslu.

Day 13 :
Trek to Tanbuche

The trek continues to Tanbuche, where you will descend slightly and pass through alpine terrain. The landscape transitions to more open areas with fewer trees, offering vast views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. This is another remote village that provides a peaceful setting for trekkers.

Day 14 :
Explore Tanbuche and Rest Day

This day is dedicated to exploration and resting at Tanbuche. You can take shorter hikes around the village, visit nearby viewpoints, or simply relax and enjoy the beauty of the Himalayas. It’s important to acclimatize well before continuing the journey.

Day 15 :
Trek to Karche

The trek moves on to Karche, a village nestled in the lush Manang valley. The trail continues to descend, with more dramatic views of the Annapurna and Manaslu ranges. As you descend, you’ll notice a shift in the vegetation and the feel of the landscape.

Day 16 :
Trek to Dharapani

From Karche, the trek heads toward Dharapani, a bustling village that marks the intersection of the Annapurna Circuit. The trail is gentler as you descend, passing through dense forests and villages. Dharapani is an important hub for trekkers and offers some great views of Manaslu.

Day 17 :
Trek to Jagat

After Dharapani, you’ll trek back to Jagat, following a route that retraces some of your steps. The trek offers an opportunity to reflect on the journey so far as you pass through forests and enjoy the tranquility of the valley.

Day 18 :
Trek to Bahundanda

The trek continues toward Bahundanda, a village with expansive views of the surrounding valley and mountains. The descent to Bahundanda takes you through picturesque landscapes, terraced fields, and lush forests.

Day 19 :
Trek to Bhulbhule

From Bahundanda, the trail leads you to Bhulbhule, a small village located at the entrance to the Annapurna Circuit. The terrain continues to be beautiful, with rivers and valleys offering stunning views of the mountains.

Day 20 :
Trek to Besi Sahar

From Bhulbhule, you will trek to Besi Sahar, the roadhead for your trek. This marks the end of your trekking adventure in the Manaslu region. Besi Sahar is a lively town that connects the trekking route to the rest of Nepal.

Day 21 :
Drive to Kathmandu

After completing the trekking in Nepal, you will take a drive back to Kathmandu. The journey takes about 6-7 hours, and you’ll be treated to more scenic views along the way. Once in Kathmandu, you can rest or explore the city further.

Day 22 :
Depart Kathmandu and Start Next Destination

On the final day of your adventure, you’ll depart Kathmandu for your onward journey. Whether you’re returning home or continuing your travels in Nepal or beyond, this marks the end of an unforgettable trekking experience
