Transfer to the airport for your flight from Kathmandu to Lhasa with Air China. This scenic, one-hour Trans-Himalayan flight offers breathtaking aerial views of Mount Everest and other towering Himalayan peaks (weather permitting). Upon arrival in Lhasa, you’ll clear immigration and customs before embarking on a 2-hour drive to the city, located 93 km away at an altitude of 3,650 meters. Alternatively, if arriving via mainland China, you will be met by an Blissful Himalayas representative at the airport or train station.
Spend the next three days exploring the cultural and historical treasures of Lhasa. Visit the iconic Potala Palace, once the winter residence of the Dalai Lama, and the Drepung Monastery, the largest monastery in Tibet. Continue your exploration at the Sera Monastery, known for its lively debates among monks, and the beautiful Norbulingka Palace, the summer retreat of the Dalai Lamas. Don’t miss the Jokhang Temple, the spiritual heart of Tibet, and take time to explore the surrounding Barkhor Market, a hub of local Tibetan culture and commerce.
Your overland journey begins with a full day drive to Gyantse, passing through stunning landscapes and crossing two high mountain passes: Kamba La (4,794m) and Karo La (5,010m). These passes offer spectacular views of the surrounding mountains. En route, you’ll visit Yamdrok Tso, the turquoise-colored lake, a tranquil and picturesque highlight of the journey.
In the morning, visit the impressive Gyantse Stupa and Monastery, before continuing your drive to Shigatse. Upon arrival, explore Tashilhunpo Monastery, the seat of the Panchen Lama, and marvel at the giant Buddha statue within its grounds.

On the final day of your journey, drive from Lao Tingri to Zhangmu (5,050m), before heading to the border for your return to Kathmandu, completing this unforgettable adventure across Tibet and the Himalayas.
