Itinerary
Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, you will be greeted by a representative and transferred to your hotel. After checking in, you can relax and acclimatize to the city’s atmosphere. There will be a brief orientation session about the trek and what to expect in the coming days.
Today, you’ll explore the cultural and historical gems of Kathmandu Valley, including famous sites like Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple), Pashupatinath Temple, Boudhanath Stupa, and Durbar Square. These UNESCO World Heritage Sites offer insight into Nepal’s rich history, culture, and spirituality. In the afternoon, you’ll meet with your trek guide, check your gear, and go over the final preparations for the trek.
After breakfast, you’ll embark on a scenic 6-hour drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara, a picturesque lakeside city surrounded by mountains. The drive takes you through the winding roads of the Prithvi Highway, offering beautiful views of lush forests, rivers, and valleys. Upon arrival in Pokhara, you’ll check into your hotel and have time to relax and enjoy the peaceful ambiance of the city, with its stunning views of Machhapuchhre (Fishtail) and other peaks.
In the morning, you’ll drive to Nayapul (about 1.5 hours), the starting point of your trek. From Nayapul, you’ll begin your hike, following the trail alongside the Buri Gandaki River and passing through small villages and terraced fields. The trek to Tikhedhunga (1,577m) is a relatively easy walk, giving you a gentle introduction to the trek. You’ll stay overnight at a local teahouse in Tikhedhunga, where you can enjoy a hearty meal and relax.
Today, you’ll continue your ascent to Ghorepani, a popular village nestled in the foothills of the Annapurna range. The trail takes you through dense forests of rhododendron trees, with occasional glimpses of snow-capped peaks as you climb. The walk can be a bit strenuous, but the views and the experience of trekking through these vibrant forests make it worthwhile. You’ll reach Ghorepani in the late afternoon and have time to explore the village and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.
Early in the morning, you’ll rise before dawn to climb Poon Hill (3,200m) for a spectacular sunrise. From this vantage point, you’ll be treated to panoramic views of the Annapurna Massif, including Dhaulagiri, Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), and Nilgiri peaks. The sunrise over these snow-capped mountains is one of the highlights of the trek. After soaking in the view, you’ll descend to Ghorepani for breakfast and then continue trekking to Tadapani (2,630m). The trail today takes you through more rhododendron forests and offers lovely views of the surrounding mountains
From Tadapani, you’ll descend towards Ghandruk (1,940m), a charming Gurung village. This village is one of the largest in the region and offers an excellent opportunity to learn about the culture and lifestyle of the local Gurung people. The village has traditional stone houses, terraced fields, and beautiful views of Machhapuchhre and Hiunchuli. You’ll have time to explore the village, interact with the locals, and enjoy the peaceful environment.
Today, you’ll trek down to Birethanti (1,025m), passing through small villages and lush forests. Once you reach Birethanti, you’ll take a short drive (around 2 hours) back to Pokhara. Upon arrival in Pokhara, you’ll check into your hotel and have the rest of the day free to relax, shop for souvenirs, or explore the lakeside area. You can also enjoy a peaceful boat ride on Phewa Lake or visit the nearby World Peace Pagoda.
After breakfast, you’ll take a tourist bus back to Kathmandu (6-7 hours). The drive offers another chance to enjoy the scenic beauty of Nepal’s countryside. Once you arrive in Kathmandu, you’ll be transferred to your hotel, where you can unwind after your trek and reflect on the amazing journey you’ve just completed. You’ll have some free time for last-minute shopping or sightseeing before your departure.
